ISO Certification renewed for 14th year

INDIANAPOLIS, USA – June 2008 – The Sensient facility in Juneau, Wisconsin gained ISO 9001:2000 re-certification. It has the rare distinction of being the first North American food ingredient facility to obtain this certification in 1994. The Juneau plant makes a complete range of yeast products and extractives.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards and is a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries.

Some of the requirements for the ISO 9001:2000 certification include:

  • a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business
  • monitoring processes to ensure they are effective
  • keeping adequate records
  • checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary
  • regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness
  • facilitating continual improvement
